Thin Is not all it's cracked up to be, says Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has admitted that she once suffered from the wasting disease known as Bulimia, speaking to a young women’s conference in California, hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s estranged wife Maria Shriver, she explained how conquering Bulimia saved her voice.

The singer, real name Stefani Germanotta aged 25 said she “purged” so regularly that stomach acid was eating away at her vocal chords, she admitted that speaking about the problem that faces so many young people comes easier now that she has won her battle, “I don’t do it anymore” she said.

Lady Gaga warned that many sufferers who did not sing would maybe not have that as a excuse and could ignore it until it was too late and that is very dangerous.

The lady who wanted to be a stick thin ballerina told how she was quite a voluptuous little Italian girl and how her fathers’ meat balls and pasta cooking that she loved so much did not help every night. “I used to come home each day and ask my dad why he gave me pasta as I needed to be thin, he would always reply eat your spaghetti.”

Bulimia she confessed almost drove her to the brink of suicide and she condemned magazines and music video makers for making her appear thinner than she actually was.

Lady Gaga told of the foundation that she has set up to fight bullying called “The born this way foundation” and now feels she has to appeal to her many young fans, especially girl fans who may suffer from Bulimia to stop the dieting wars, “Everyone knock it off because at the end of the day it’s making girls sick.”

The singer said she knows how hard it is but appealed for youngsters to try to talk to someone about it, “Know your worth, nobody is worth more than you.”

Cigarette turns into a rocket

Father of three, Tom Holloway a photographer thought he would do the right thing and give up the evil weed but things didn’t quite go to plan when he purchased an electronic cigarette for the attempt.

The batteries in the device ignited and the cigarette turned into a rocket in his mouth, red hot debris flew from his mouth taking his teeth with it and to add insult to injury his study caught fire as well.

Tom was rushed to hospital  in Niceville, Florida with no teeth, his face covered in blood and part of his tongue missing.

A spokesman said ” He could probably do with a smoke after that experience.”

Zed four months after serious scalding accident

Zed Merrick a two year old boy from Lincolnshire England who suffered terrible skin damage after scalding himself with boiling tea has recovered and is now free of even any scarring.

The toddlers mother thought he would be disfigured for life after the horrific accident left him with second-degree burns,but four months later when the bandages were removed there was not a sign of damage.

Doctors had used a revolutionary new technique that entailed spraying a solution made  from the skin cells of the youngster all over the burn area.

Nicky, the boys mum said “The first time they took the bandages off Zeb we were like “WOW” , the way it worked was incredible and he didn’t need to go through the pain of having his dressings change daily, which would normally be the case”.

Amazing new spray technique for healing burns

The procedure costing about £5000 took around two hours at a specialist unit in Wakefield Yorkshire, healthy skin the size of a postage stamp was removed from Zed, this was put into a special machine ready for the ReCell Spray-On Skin technique, doctors are hoping the process can soon be rolled out across the country.

It has long been known that skin has an amazing ability to regenerate and grow, but the new technique pushes the method to its extreme.

Zed’s new skin will stretch normally as he grows up and it is hoped that the method will bring great relief to others and change the future of burns and other treatments.

Villa boy appears to shun opposite number

The Aston Villa child mascot who appeared to refuse the handshake of the opposing team mascot of Manchester City was not mimicking Luis Suarez the club has stressed.

The boy aged 7 yrs appeared to decline the outstretched hand of his opposite number as the teams lined up to exchange greetings before Sundays game in the English Premier League, the apparent refusal raised fears he was copying Suarez when he declined the hand of Parice Evra in a previous game.

A club spokesman confirmed that they had spoken to both of the boys families and no unpleasant intent was evident, the boys had interacted before and after the match and the missed handshake was the result of the boys being overwhelmed by the occasion as they got close to their idols and became overawed.

More than 900,000 views of  the incident have so far been seen on YouTube.

Online sales are booming

Domino’s Pizza Company report that they have taken a staggering leap in online orders, they say the rise is due to the increase of cell phone ordering apps for modern devices like the iPhone.

In 2011 there were 17 days when online sales topped £1 million something that had not happened in the whole of the previous year.

The pizza chain’s chief executive Lance Batchelor said ” Online orders are becoming an increasing and exciting part of our business, some of our stores handle 75% of their orders on the Internet”.

He added  ” A further advantage is that when customers order online it is easier to upsell things like puddings drinks and other side orders, we believe the customer satisfaction is increased by being able to devise the order to tailor their particular needs”.

The company say they are also increasingly using social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to target the vast number of takeout fans out there, customer numbers rose from 4 million to 4.3 million last year, sales were up 9.3% to £530.6 million.

The things we have to do to earn a bloody pension

A British soldier has been axed from his job just 72 hours before the completion of his 18 years of service to his country, the soldier who is in his forties had served for 17 years and 362 days when he received his redundancy notice as the army cut about 5,000 jobs.

The move which will prevent the soldier from getting a full pension and means he will have to wait a further 18 years before he can draw a smaller pension has been called a mean and unfair move.

Malcolm Farrow speaking for The Forces Pension Society said “To be made redundant just three days before your pension is due to be paid is extremely harsh and very unfair.”

Prime Minister David Cameron has been urged from all sides to intervene, The Shadow Defence Secretary Jim Murphy called the move robbery and said that service personnel who had given so much for the country deserve to be treated better than this.

The story comes after warnings of stringent cuts to the armed forces were announced last year, The Sun Newspaper then revealed that hundreds just short of qualifying for their pensions were at risk and being targeted for the sack.

The pension rules were changed in 2010 when servicemen made redundant could claim an immediate pension if they had completed 12 years of service, it is now 18 years.

A MOD spokesman said ” servicemen who leave just before their 18 years have been completed do not get an immediate pension, he added, the redundancy scheme pays a larger tax-free lump sum and they will still receive a pension and another tax free sum when they reach 60 or 65.

The Old Bull and Bush Hampstead

Pubs in the UK will be allowed to stay open until one hour past midnight for two days over the bank holiday, June the 1st and 2nd this year will see revellers indulging in a royal booze-up as the queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee, 60 years of marriage.

A home office spokesman said “The Queens anniversary will be a national celebration and we want all communities up and down the country joining in the festivities.

Pub landlords however are calling for the extension to be stretched out over the entire four days of the Bank Holiday period, they have been told that they will have to apply individually to their local councils for the extra two days.

Chief executive for the British Beer and Pub Association, Brigid Simmonds said “Friday and Saturday will be great for getting the party started, but it’s a shame the extra hours will not apply to Sunday and Monday.”

The Jubilee celebrations will be all year through with the royals visiting all parts of the UK, this event along with the Olympics should help to dull the pain of what is expected to be a pretty tough year for most families as the financial cuts bite deeper.

Henry gives back

The return on loan of Thierry Henry to the Arsenal team last night cost bookmakers an estimated £1 million as fans took up the generous offer of 14/1 for the french international who is on a short loan from New York Red Bulls in their seasonal break to score the only goal in the match, Henry duly obliged and sent the supporters home happier and many richer.

Coral’s spokesman said Henry cost us a fortune when he played for Arsenal and now he’s back to inflict more pain, he still haunts us. Lucky Lady Claire Osborn

Doctors told Claire Osborn that the cancerous tumour in her throat was inoperable, she even began to arrange her funeral, but her heartbreak turned to joy after a bout of coughing.

Clair had a coughing fit after feeling a tickle at the back of her throat and was astounded when she coughed up a heart shaped piece of flesh, she took the offending object to her doctor and tests revealed that it was a highly cancerous growth which had been growing on a stalk and had dislodged after the coughing bout.

Clair had previously been told that she had possibly only six months to live as her condition was so serious and the cancer would spread to all parts of her body.

Claire from Coventry said “The consultant turned to me and said , you appear to have coughed up your cancer, congratulations”. She added I was totally flabbergasted , I could not believe a coughing fit had saved my life.

Clair told how she thought she was going to die after the initial diagnosis as the survival rate for the particular type of cancer was low, she and her trucker husband Kevin decided to begin planning for her funeral.

Doctors at Coventry University Hospital were amazed when her PET scan came back negative, the scan detects tumours that have developed in other parts of the body.

Surgeon Gary Walton said it’s extremely uncommon to cough up a tumour, we suspect it had grown on a stalk and the force of the coughing snapped it off, she is very lucky.

PC Dan Pasco says "I'm lucky to be alive"

Police constable Dan Pascoe admitted that he was a very lucky man to still be alive as he survived an amazing incident on the London ring road (M25) when attempting to set up a road block.

PC Pascoe was part of a team chasing a stolen BMW driven by Lee Adamson 29, the PC had just pulled his patrol car sideways on to form a roadblock but as he got out of the car, Adamson rammed into the back end of the police vehicle with the stolen blue Beamer, the impact caused the PC to be catapulted violently into the air.

Amazingly PC Pascoe managed to roll as he hit the ground and ended up landing on his feet relatively uninjured, the lucky cop then proceeded to burst into a sprint as he saw Adamson running from the wrecked BMW.

PC Pascoe eventually caught up with the fleeing villain and after using his Taser to affect an arrest, duly collapsed, the rest of the team had arrived by now and the villain was secured.

The amazing incident took place as the BMW attempted to leave the M25 at the Chertsey, Surrey, slip road.

Adamson was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court after pleading guilty to various charges including dangerous driving, he was sent to prison for 23 months.
